OpenPDFs.com – Search 1000s of PDFs from across the web

Posted on Tuesday 27th of March 2012 07:25:38 AM to Tools

The web might be a fantastic pool of knowledge and information, but finding one specific part can sometimes feel like searching for a needle in a planet-sized haystack. No matter how many Google searches or Twitter cries for help we try, it seems impossible to find that elusive and vital snippet of info.

Part of the reason for this issue is that not all the information we require is able to be indexed by any other sites, and therefore it sits, effectively like an image, hidden away from the rest of the web. The prime offender is PDFs. These easy-to-download, easily-readable files are far from easy for anything other than a human to read, and so the information sits obscured from view for those that don’t already know it’s there.

That’s where OpenPDFs comes in.

OpenPDFs.com is a new intelligent platform with millions of perfectly captured PDF documents from the globe’s most popular platforms and ERP systems-  including SAP, Microsoft and Adobe, whose resource pages often look like the expanded Britannia Encyclopaedia. The tool is designed to help business people in a hurry find exactly what they need – quick.

The PDFs catalogued by OpenPDFs.com are easily searchable, and tagged by platform, content and format. You can also download for print, PC, iPad and Android as required.
It’s hard to believe it hasn’t been done sooner, right?

Best of all, OpenPDFs.com is an entirely free service for all.

Background

OpenPDFs.com was created by senior business people who found that no matter how well they knew the web, finding the right documentation for systems they and their departments used, was proving nigh on impossible.

Paper documentation for such a massive pool of information is expensive and largely impractical, if not impossible, and so ERP, CRM and accounting platform PDFs proved issueful when it came to manuals, not least because keeping track of updates and amends was also troublesome.

We set up OpenPDFs.com to help us do our jobs, and it does this every single day. We want to extend its usage to a wider audience so we can improve and expand the tool and library, giving you easy search and access of all the documents you need.

All feedback, however small is very welcome. Please send comments, suggestions or just a quick hello to: hello@openPDFs.com.

Where To Move For The Fastest Broadband in The UK

Posted on Wednesday 8th of February 2012 01:41:57 AM to Keywords

Across the UK broadband speeds are reported be on the up. Unsurprisingly, the best broadband speeds are found in the capital and also in a few areas dotted across the country. If you’re wondering how your areas fares you can do a broadband speed test.

Rural Areas Still Suffer From Sluggish Broadband Speeds

.

In August 2011 the government decided to set aside £365m to improve broadband services in rural parts of England. The aim is to bring superfast broadband to hard-to-reach communities by the year 2015. Although pilot schemes have been controversial, private companies have also stepped in to donate free hardware such as Dongles and MiFi in order to facilitate better access.
Communities have pointed out that it is now hard to run any kind of successful business without high-speed broadband, and that lack of this facility in the area means an impact not only on people’s leisure time but on the economic well being of the area.
Wales, and the North of Scotland are areas with the poorest broadband. Within England, Cumbria is the worst place to be a broadband user. However what Cumbria lacks in high speed internet facilities it more than makes up for with natural beauty – so it’s a fair trade off we think!

Failure To Upgrade By Millions Of Customers Is Holding UK Broadband Services Back.

Despite the fact that speed upgrades to fibre optic cable are almost free across many service providers, a recent Ofcom survey found that only 300,000 customers had signed up for BT’s Infinity fibre service, as one example. Some have speculated that this is due to the financial downturn and that people are forgoing the best internet service as household budgets are squeezed.

So how do we compare with the rest of the world? The UK uptake percentage is 4%, split between the two biggest providers. Compare this to 40% uptake in Japan and 10% in the USA. However, compared to other EU countries we aren’t doing that badly, with Spain and Italy on 2.2% and 1.5% respectively.

3 Easy Tips on Conducting a Blogger Outreach Campaign

Posted on Saturday 25th of February 2012 11:26:39 PM to Tools

So now we're in 2012, advertising via pop up ads seems “so last year”. More and more businesses are targeting blogger outreach campaigns. Reaching out to bloggers across the web relevant to your target market can be a tricky task but we’ve got some key tips that can make it easy peasy using one simple tool!

1.    Identify your keywords
In order to get precise results throughout your campaign you must be specific when figuring out your keywords. It is beneficial to have as many relevant keywords as possible in order to gain a variety of results that are all specific to your campaign.

2.    Use Outreachr

outreachr

Outreachr is a tool designed to make discovering, filtering and gathering links from the web an easy and quick process. Outreachr searches sites that rank in Google and displays them within a campaign on a “dashboard”. The tool enables you to organise your campaigns, include as many keywords as you want to encourage the best results as possible. Each campaign will contain a list of results where you are able to click on a site and view it in the same window – a nice simple process!

3.    Contact

So let’s move on to the best bit of Outreachr which is: alongside the results of sites that are displayed there are also contact details – e-mail addresses, Twitter links as well as Facebook links.

 outreachr

With Twitter and Facebook becoming key marketing tools of the modern age it’s particularly handy having them at the click of a button. Outreachr is a really effective method of keeping results all in one place; you can click different options (contacted, partner, negative) so you know who you have successfully contacted as well as remove irrelevant or unresponsive sites from the list.

outreachr So there you have it - The three top tips to conduct a blogger outreach campaign – without all the confusion and hassle!

Now marketing software can do every part of your job

Posted on Tuesday 24th of January 2012 01:35:25 AM to Tools

Marketing software has evolved to bring all marketing campaigns under one umbrella.  Imagine a piece of software than can do every part of your work. That’s marketing automation, web forensics, email marketing, lead generation, a landing page builder, social media tracking, PPC tracking, CRM and multimedia channel integration.

Umbrella marketing software

Here to make your campaigns more profitable is new marketing automation software that  enables you to conduct your entire marketing activity under just one platform. Organisations of any size can see their lead generation activity jump as more ‘warm’ customers return to the website, ready and engaged with the brand.

Only a small number of organisations actually test their email campaigns in order to optimise the response. So with just a bit more attention to detail, you’ll already have an advantage over your competitors. With new software your email marketing is not only automated but optimised.  Your website will see greater conversions  with ‘warm’ customers returning to your site to complete transactions.

Real time visitor tracking
Now you can view not only hits on your site but also activity. This means you can view what anonymous visitors are looking at on your website. Real time tracking software means that you can follow up with personalised email messages, so that customers are kept up to date and interested in the products that they will eventually buy. These add up to a larger lead score in your CRM. These leads can also be ranked from high to low scoring. Companies are now able to provide extremely high quality landing pages, email marketing, banner ads and Ad Words.

Streamlining costs
Old systems kept different parts of your campaign under separate data clouds. Switching programmes and formats constantly eats up time and money. This new streamlined efficiency can help to drive your campaign forwards.
You can achieve outstanding sales for your organisation by replacing all of your old systems with one new system. You could dramatically improve your ROI.  That means that any marketing professionals still using multiple software across their campaigns should think again.

why Online Market Research is essential to any website and their web presence

Posted on Tuesday 10th of January 2012 05:29:07 AM to SEO

Understanding your market is as vital a part of SEO as any link building, page rank or Google ads. If you don’t know who your site is aiming at then how can you ever hope to target them with the right keywords in the right places. Some sites are better suited to facebook advertising, some Google, some none at all. Where are your users coming from? For example, “American Panel” may work for one site in America but maybe not so in the UK or Swaziland, to name but two of the many countries it may not work for!

That’s why Online Market Research is essential to any website and their web presence – understanding your audience through carefully worded surveys or polls can be hugely useful for gauging the target market. B2B Market Research can also be hugely useful, as can a short PPC test or an offline survey. There’s so many facets to researching before your site goes live, you shouldn’t miss out – you might be cutting out a huge slice of your profits.

Posted on Monday 26th of October 2009 12:32:12 AM to SEO

we have found our comment boxes full of www.olshoe.com links to different section of the site.

Google usually punish site like http://www.olshoe.com as they boombard the web with their spammy and unrelated links.

http://www.olshoe.com might sell great shoes but it should use more ethical SEO tactics to do that !

Pagerank Crawler by Orchid Box

Posted on Tuesday 10th of January 2012 05:31:22 AM to SEO

The headpiece of Orchid Box’s range of SEO tools, the new Pagerank tool enables users to take an ever closer look at the inner workings of their site and do some DIY SEO.

The pagerank crawler has a simple and professional interface which on the face of it is very easy to use and understand, and it’s even easier to use. Just by typing in the homepage of your site and choosing the number of links you can get a wealth of information that is gold dust to SEOs and webmasters alike. You can also specify a filter for the URL, so if you want to get details from a certain area of your site (for example the “books” section or “forums”) you can add the extra filter to root those specific pages out.

The SEO crawler spiders the most important pages of your site first, then crawls deeper into the recesses of your site, and before you know it the results are there. Initially the most obvious, and sometimes most useful, numbers are the Google pageranks of your pages. With these you can determine if your navigation is working as it should and whether the pagerank is diluting too much between your frontpage and the next links (if your homepage has PR6 and a page linked from it has no PR then something is up!). This tool is the only of its type that will give you these multiple page ranks in one go. Additional to this is a table containing other such useful info as the number of internal and external of links, page loading times, sizes – all hugely useful for SEOs and webmasters in diagnosing their sites.

There is a further wealth of information looking at the links within these pages below this table, where amongst other things you can check your 301 redirects and see if there are any rogue 404s on the site.

All in all the Pagerank crawler is a hugely useful tool for even the most casual of website owners, and for no price at all you can solve so many problems on your site without typing in more than your homepage address. And it’s all for free – you won’t have to worry about SEO again!

Orchid Box are an expert SEO Agency London, specialising in SEO tools and cutting edge SEO and PPC management.

web hosting reviews

Posted on Tuesday 10th of January 2012 05:26:57 AM to Keywords

We have recently had a think about swapping servers, as web hosting can be a bit of a nightmare with lots of information and tools on your site like we have. We were tempted to set up a personal dedicated server which we could monitor from the office and maintain without having to phone up any call centres or random companies from Mars or somewhere similar. But this was a lot of hassle and requires a lot of power and bandwidth which would have hindered our office somewhat. And we’re lazy.

So what to do, what to do? We looked at VPS hosting, and various other hosting methods which might have suited the site and it’s content. But it was all too expensive, too hassle-full or just plain useless. We tried inventing a new serving technique to revolutionise the web but there was something good on telly.

We found a good service called: webhostinggeeks.com which contains independent reviews of the best web hosting providers. Cheap professional web hosting services under $10 a month; all webhosting plans include at least one free domain name registration and 30 day money back guarantee.

new website launched : bridgingloans.co.uk

Posted on Tuesday 10th of January 2012 05:26:30 AM to Keywords

There are no shortage of ways of ways to make money on the web nowadays. Legal, illegal, beg, stealing and borrowing – people just want to see cash in their pocket. Not all of us, however are looking for a quick fix or bridging loan that might gain us a bit of quick revenue. That’s why long term SEO strategies are so important.

No-one can suddenly get their site to no. 1 in the Google rankings with a quick change, not least because that is exactly what Google don’t want. Building a site and a service that people actually want to engage with is absolutely essential for any website today, whether it be promoting a well established product or spreading awareness of a completely new brand. In today’s world of instant results and impatient employers, people expect success to quickly. Look at football – how long do football managers last before they’re lobbed in the gutter?

Long term strategies and patience are essential characteristics of SEO experts, as is an appreciation of the short term – you’ve got to be able to look at the big picture and then analyse the little details within (hence why SEOs love graphs!). But it’s important for clients too – a watched kettle never boils; don’t expect your SEO agency to wield instant results, but watch for the subtle nuances in your progress and expect the wider picture to be positive even if there are blips on the upwards gradient every now and again!

Checking Adwords Adgroups within Analytics

Posted on Monday 19th of January 2009 07:14:34 AM to SEO

Every now and again, you need to check how your Adwrods AdGroups are performing on Google Analytics. So far, I struggled to find a way for white a long time and according to some blogs it was impossible to do.

Just by chance, while I was creating a custom keyword report on https://www.google.com/analytics/reporting/custom_reports_overview I have found that after adding your keyword as main dimension you can add adgroups as sub dimensions.

Hence every keyword is grouped by Adgroups. If you now look for a particular keyword you get all the Adgroups where the keyword is found and you can click on a group to find belongs to.

A good place to get more information on Google Analytics:

Open Source SEO tools for everyone

Posted on Sunday 12th of October 2008 06:53:44 AM to Tools

After going to the Future of Web Apps (FOWA), I have taken a very important decision. I am going to open my tools and make them publicly available. In return, I am asking you some help to build better, faster and smarter tools.

Google Analytics does a great job to analyze web traffic once visitors have landed to your site, however it doesn’t tell you anything about your competitors and how well they are doing. It says nothing about your page rank, nor suggests you better and more effective keywords or tracks your online presence.

Sorry to break this news to you, you stand no chance in improving your Google score if you just use an analytic tool! This is why many companies hire SEO agencies to have a hassle-free life.

I am not aware of any SEO companies or professionals that have opened their secret and black magic tools to the world. I believe most of the SEO agencies around, especially in the UK, have developed some in-house tools that allow them to charge clients a large amount of money for the usage of these tools. Most of the time, these SEO marketers have very little knowledge of the Search Engine market.

As I come from a technical background and naturally brought into Search Engine Optimization, as I wanted my sites to score higher on Google, I have developed and scoped tools to help me to do my job more efficiently and effectively. Most of the tools have been developed with the help of some fellow developers and have been inspired by understanding and great clients.

I am not kidding, drop me an email and I will be happy to zip my function.php file and send it to you.

1. Inbound links from "bad" places.
2. Hundreds of links from one IP address.

APT the new PPC platform from Yahoo

Posted on Monday 29th of September 2008 06:33:02 AM to SEO

aptAPT will mainly serve display advertising, or ads placed on the websites of publishers who have previously joined the program and will earn from renting their space, much like the Google AdWords/Adsense platform: but, in addition, APT also features its own ad network linking publishers and advertisers directly, as well as an ad marketplace where advertisement space can be bought and sold to the best bidder.

Yahoo also hopes the new platform will help the ailing newspaper industry, by transforming poorly performing remnant advertising into higher performing revenue streams. "We touch more users around the world than any publisher could dream to do," says John Slade, Yahoo's Vice President of Product Management. "The new product hopes to help publishers garner more revenue for their ad placements by offering more targeted audiences."

You can decide for yourself by visiting the APT web site.

We hope APT prices would be less prices than Adwords.
